Work-Life Balance with Blackberry- is it possible?

This is the new era of technological advancements. Each and every one of us is addicted to technology and is becoming more so with ever passing day. It sure has made our life a lot easier and it now is making our work seem easier too. The boon to work life comes in the form of a blackberry. It is a personal digital assistant that enables you to read your mails, keep a tab on your schedules, browse through any other internet site, maintain an address book and page someone. The most amazing fact about a blackberry is that it does a million useful things and it fits in your palm. Its size enables you to carry it around anywhere and thus helps you keep up with your work even if you are on a vacation.

If you want an efficient work life with the help of your blackberry, there are some things you should know.

• When you are running a browser or playing a game on your blackberry and need to close it, do not press the "end call" key to do that. It merely hides the application from your view. It does not close it. So, try and exit each application because too many applications running on the blackberry can slow it down.
• If you want to view all the open applications on your blackberry, just press the ALT key followed by the ESCAPE key. It'll give you a list of all open applications.
• If you ever come across an engaging website and you haven't any time to read it just then, go to the menu option of the blackberry internet browser and select "save page". It will add the page to your message list like the other emails.
• If you think your inbox is cluttered and want to clear it, press the CAPS key and scroll UP or DOWN to select the messages you want to delete. If you want to totally clear your inbox then pres T in message view to move to the top. Then select "delete prior"; your inbox will be cleared.
• If you want to view the exact signal strength in your area, hold down the ALT key and type NMLL. The bars showing your signal strength will be replaced by numbers indicating real strength of signal. Repeat the process to return to the previous settings again.
• When you send an email from your blackberry, you get a copy of that in your inbox. If you want to prevent that, insert a blackberry filter.
• Softwares on your blackberry like Google talk, twitter, facebook, picasa, Yahoo! Go, newsgator etc. is great but it can also drain your battery resources as it constantly checks for updates. Therefore you might want to switch to manual updates.
