Windows XP will be supported for two more years

I think this is right decision as XP is really good OS right now. Vista needs time to get polished. And after couple years It will be OK because of upcoming service packs that will improve performance and, faster hardware. As I remember transition from Win98 to XP also took some time. It looked like XP is slow and complicated, but couple service packs fixed lots of things and as you say SP3 is gonna improve performance even more. Everything new needs some time, Vista isn't exception.

Yep, XP is indeed the most reliable OS IMO as of now. AFAIK, Windows 7 is releasing in a year or two - Microsoft made a good decision by extending support for another 2 years. Hope the new OS is not as slow as vista - I mean, it should have the looks of Vista, and the compatibility of XP. That would really be great!

nice move by MS.... IMO XP is far better than Vista... Vista is just for eye candy at this stage... Games run better in XP than Vista...XP has moderate system requirements...Many softwares are not supporrted on vista..There are several more drawbacks of Vista over Xp....so it's not fully complete to replace XP....

well XP is really good, but microsoft knows that it is biggest threat to Vista. Microsft want Vista all the way, and no Xp after few year. But after all this is good decision by Microsoft, and I appreciate the desicion. Now microsoft windows7 is in news. So lots of thing happening, lets watch the game.

Good news, as an xp user. I am more interested in the SP3 release. As SP2 was a vast improvement over the original release with security and performence, hoping to see even better result with SP3. My machine is too old to run Vista, :D. So go on XP.

good news for us. I am using Xp and i also a fan....... i think more than 70% use XP not sure but XP it's the number 1 on the world :X:X

I not to switch to vista at the moment. For microsoft is to early launching the vista for the moment. It now its not the correct time to using Vista cause all computer is still under requirement. Maybe 2/3 years later Vista will suitable with people.

whatever is happening to vista happened to Xp also when it was launced. people complained of it being difficult and preferd sticking to 98 but now they love XP . i think this is what will happen to vista also its a matter of time everyone switches to it

Me neither! I've worked on Vista and I got completely lost when it came to trying to get my laptop connected to my PC! It looks good, but thats about all I can see in it so far..XP is by far the best option for now, and I can't see too many people switching over to Vista any time soon

it's a great move by microsoft who had been planning on scrapping XP!
let's hope the new service pack 3 bring about nice changes to windows XP. and users shift to open source or windows vista for good!

Microsoft decided to prolong XP Home edition sales until June 2010 and for one year after release of Windows 7. . So really speaking XP could be supported until 2012. So, no reason to upgrade and fight with slow Vista performance.

i don't think microsoft will be foolish enough to continue for this long with XP. they want people to go and buy vista for their systems and this if does not happen, they will force the users to make this happen, by discontinuing XP support!

Every Product will have End of Life. When the product becomes very old software companys will want to relase a new product which is in trend with the latest developments. It becomes difficult always updating the old software.
