I can tell what I am using.

I can tell what I am using. For me Free AVG works best. First of all it is free, but works really professionally. I am using it for maybe couple years and never had any problems with viruses. AVG detects them really good. Once installed, you can forget about it - it updates automatically and can schedule periodic virus scans to keep your system clean. You should try it.

I don't know maybe other have any good experience with other free antiviruses..

Re: What is the best free antivirus program?

i am using symantec from 3 years

it is really good and as you people know it is from a well known company

payment and subsrciptions are worth compared to the rates wrt to support.

we installed a 4K licence for our organization and the support was good

but some i also can say the higher versions eat more memory
in norton 2004 i was running good speed but 2005 , 2007 takes lot of time

Free AVG isn't bad, but for free I think Avast! is the best.

Realistically I think you do get what you pay for, you might like to consider a subscription to NOD32 or Kaspersky, but the free Avast! should work pretty well anyway.

Even I feel that AVG is the best anti virus solution to use because of its simple architecture and user friendly interface. It also allows free updates of latest DATS to clean new viruses. Every free version is limited to some features similarly AVG's free version is limited to anti virus and does not contain Anti-Spyware, Anti-Spam and Firewall in the free package. To get your free copy of AVG Antivirus visit http://free.grisoft.com/doc/download-free-anti-virus/us...

Re: What is the best free antivirus program?

I have used both AVG and Avast. AVG is lighter and works good but for better and deeper protection AVAST is good. Lost of options in avast but it uses a bit more memory then AVG.

So if you have a computer which is a bit slow then use AVG otherwise AVAST it is.

Re: What is the best free antivirus program?

If you are asking for best free antivirus application then you must choose AVG antivirus or Zone alarm.
These two are recommended by experts and I will also recommend this to you.
One more thing I would like to tell you that free antivirus application are with less features so you should be cautious when downloading any file to your computer system because some free antivirus programs does not scan some weired viruses.
So keep updating your antivirus application.

Re: What is the best free antivirus program?

Well i recommend Avast free home edition (for personal use)..
Though AVG is ok but the response break up time of avast in case a new virus is found is less when compared to AVG...
and avast is light when compared to AVG(This is what i feel coz i have used them both)
And Avast has more community support than AVG...
The updates for Avast and it's virus def is released more often that AVG..

So i recommend AVAST....

Free would mean mediocre protection. I was using AVG free since the past 1 year. It would detect virus's once in a while. However, just some days back, some virus hit me. AVG failed to detect it. I upgraded to Panda and its serving me nicely since then.

Can anyone suggest good free antispyware. Lately I am having problems with them. Free AVG antispyware only scans your computer, but it doesn't run residently.

Try Panda Antivirus. Its really good. After I switched on it from AVG, over 100 spywares were detected!

I think AVG is better than norton. norton don't even recognize some viruses. i don't know why its kind of weired. i'm have AVG in my laptop and MaCfee in my desktop. I hate MaCfee. You better try AVG i'm sure you will love it.

Re: What is the best free antivirus program?

I have been using kaspersky Antivirus for around one year, and very satisfied with kaspersky. I have used 3-4 antivirus , but I will say Kaspersky is best amonf all. First I used, Norton, which came as Free with my new system for 3 months. I would say Norton is simply crap. Than I used Mcafee security suit. It was alright, But I was not very satisfied with it as I was eating ,uch memory. Than finally kaspersky, and I am settled with kaspersky.

Re: What is the best free antivirus program?

Really to say, AVG , avast also does its work well, but Mcafee is the best according to myself.Because Trojan is the virus which affects most of the systems,AVG didnt cleared it for longtime but Mcafee cleared all my virus in my computer. It occupies less space also , rather compared to other antivirus software like kaspersky,etc...
MCAFEE is the best...

Re: What is the best free antivirus program?

Here is something that will raise some eyebrows.....although I have used AVG since I stumbled upon it years back......I have NEVER had to use it..not once. What really makes peoples eyesbrows raise is that I am online ALL the time. so...spend the big bucks for Norton or McAffee??...Not for me.. Gary

Re: What is the best free antivirus program?

I've used both AVG and Avast and I'll have to say that Avast is the better of the two. AVG used to turn off all of a sudden and wouldn't startup until i reinstalled it..never figured out that problem..Online updates are a problem with both though..constant reminders and popups really frustrate the user..

Re: What is the best free antivirus program?

I use two free anti virus softwares AVG and AVAST. These are very much helpful for protecting computer system from viruses. But Let me inform you that AVG will occupy more space in hard disk and will take more space in memory also with respect to AVAST.

Re: What is the best free antivirus program?

I would vote for Avast. Avast is easier to update even if you doesn' own an Internet connection. You can download the file into your pen drive or floppy disk and update it at home. The file usually were made into the smaller size.
