Question: Which is the best CMS?

The best CMS is the one you make yourself…

It really depends on your requirements. Joomla is OK but far behind drupal, for example – and the installation routine is now the same for both so it can’t be said that "drupal is more difficult to install" any longer.

Joomla has "prettier" (corporate?) themes available out of the box (but boring and found everywhere) but drupal is easier to theme (zen theme is perhaps the best to start with) and change the appearance of with the Views module. You can easily create your own content type using CCK (Content Construction Kit) – yes custom fields etc – something Joomla cannot yet do, I believe. It’s also a lot easier to set up Drupal for "friendly" urls.

The administration part of drupal is very straight forward and logical.

If you want a simple CMS for simple purposes, it’s possible that both Joomla and Drupal are over the top for your requirements.
