The Question

Firefox 2 vs. IE 7

Who is the winner?

Total points

Internet Explorer 7: 47
Firefox 2: 64

The winner is Firefox 2

Firefox 2 still rules the browser roost for now, despite a much improved version of Internet Explorer. The most obvious new feature for IE 7 (tabs) has been in Firefox forever, and the security additions from Microsoft aren’t enough for us to allay concerns over new possible exploits. Lastly, the extensibility of Firefox 2 is its knockout punch, and IE’s add-ons cannot compare. The flexibility and customizability of Firefox might be best suited to more advanced Web users, but it has earned its spot at the top of the browsers.

Summary of the stage winner:
………………………………………………………..Winner:
Round 1: Installation woes………………………Firefox 2
Round 2: Look & community…………………… Firefox 2
Round 3: Tabbed browsing………………………Firefox 2
Round 4: Cool new features…………………….Firefox 2
Round 5: Security & performance……………..Firefox 2

But still there is a bigger number of people who use IE and it will be so. I still find websites, that don’t work with Firefox. Anyway I use Firefox as front end browser, but in some cases I need IE. IE will be popular as long as it will be forced in to windows :)

you are right till IE is forced in to windows (till doomsday) it will rule.
people grow up using IE and transition to another browser is not easy.
And recently MS has become more aware abt their browser and have started improving it.

I agree with Admin on this point…FORCED…thats the keyword!..Personally…I wouldn’t wish Internet Explorer on my worst enemy. I work in the internet marketing arena…and I know of NOONE who uses Explorer. and as far as viewing websites in Firfox…in over 3 years since using The Fox..Ive never had an issue.
