The Question

Question: How many of you open the case and clean?

I guess I should address this to desktop users. Sorry lappy boys and girls.

But do you open that case and vacuum out??….cleaning out dust on the boards??….Making sure any cooling fins are also dusted?

Do you have a particular product that you have used to help you do this?

If you do..post it here!!

I just used the plain anti-static cloth. And I just used it yesterday while repairing my cpu. To be honest, I would only open the case if my cpu went down. If not, it might collect the dust and I didn’t even care :p

Gee..you must live in an awfully dust free environment. I open my case on a monthly basis to clean!..I live out in the country and in the summer..Im sure there is dust floating through my house…and I have pets….

And I highly disagree about NOT opening the case…

    Damn..buy a lappy!!

I dont practice cleaning of my case content at all.
My case is clened only when i uprade my sistem, so the old components are pulled out (with all dust and dirt) and new and clean are placed in.

No problems at all, so far.

actually I didn’t do this before, but I think I will do it after reading your post, maybe it is really important to my computer and I use desktop PC now, I think I should not disregard this problem again.

You can use a vacume cleaner specifically meant for electronic devices. If you are not sure then dont try to open the box. You may not be able to put it back. instead blow through the vents of the box that should help.
