Question: Hard drive clicking

I have a WD HDD setup in a external enclosure and all of a sudden it makes this clicking noise and doesn’t start up. It was fine yesterday, I’m guessing it’s dead, any suggestions?

Thanks

When the Hard drive is making lots of sound then its time for a replacement. You should back up your files on a media (CD/DVD)then get prepared of the worse. Now you can reseat the Hard drive if it comes up. If you are lucky then take a backup and then go for the replacement

Don’t wait till last minute. Any unnormal hdd sound leads to it’s death. Just dump all your data to other media before it’s too late. If your HDD dies before you back up your data – you should try to put it in to freezer for few minutes (enclose with plastic bag) – and then try to run it before it heats up – sometimes it helps.
