Windows vista is the newest operating system released by the Microsoft Company. Microsoft is famous for the GUI based operating system and even now most of the computers host the windows operating system. The company has evolved new operating systems from time to time so that new features are included and more security is provided. The open source community has also developed rapidly and they provide a GUI based environment very similar to the existing windows platform.

To prove the uniqueness of Microsoft Company and to give the users excellent graphic design windows vista has been launched into the market. Microsoft operating systems were criticized for a long time because of the lack of security features. The windows vista operating system opens a new style for the windows and provides enhanced security for the users.

 The major changes in the operating system include the new updated graphical interface and visual style that was not is use in any other operating system. The vista operating system includes features for creating multimedia effectively with the help of windows DVD maker. The older start menu is changes and there will be no word called start as in the previous versions. The vista orb graphic is used fro this purpose.

The new interface in the new operating system has provided a cleaner interface which is very pleasing for the eye. The stylish graphical interface uses live thumbnails, live icons and animations. The vista provides a transparent sidebar which can be used as a place holder for placing specially designed applets called desktop gadgets.

The new IE7 interface that is provided with vista gives an excellent interface for browsing the web. Tabbed browsing and enhanced security are the major advantages of vista. The windows media player 11 in the vista operating system provides a new interface for the user with excellent skins and photo display.

The Windows Aero in the vista operating system is the new hardware based graphical interface.  Aero is an acronym for authentic, energetic, reflective and open interface. This is the premier visual style for vista. It provides 3D graphics support and translucency effects. The hardware requirements are high for the windows vista as it supports more 3D graphics. This can be used as the new modern computers have great hardware features.

The vista home edition provides the windows vista standard interface. This does not support 3D graphics and there will be no windows animation with this mode. The hardware requirements are same as aero and desktop manager is included.

Windows vista basic mode is available with vista for using windows vista in older systems. For systems that don't have the ability to support the aero environment this visual style can be used. Advanced 3D graphical effects are not available with this visual style and it is very similar to the XP style.
