LG Electronics has tied up with United India Insurance Co. Ltd. and is offering a Mobile Theft Insurance Plan for its customers at no extra charge.

All LG GSM handsets bought on or after April 1st 2008 will be insured against theft for a period of one year from the date of purchase.

In the event of handset theft, the buyer should lodge an FIR within 24 hours of occurrence of the same, block the SIM card with the respective service provider and send the information to the insurance company within 7 days of the loss

The 4 steps to avail insurance are

  1. Fill the claim form.
  2. Attach a copy of the bill given to you at the time of purchase. The invoice must contain the IMEI number of the handset.
  3. Lodge FIR under Section 379 IPC for handset theft and attach a copy with the claim form
  4. Mail the documents to the insurance company through registered post.
