How to remove the Recycle Bin from your desktop in windows xp

Your rating: None

Some us like to keep our desktop cluttered with icons to numerous applications, games, services, sites, etc. whereas some of us are such cleanliness freaks that the only icon we can see on their desktops is the recycle bin icon which would not have been there had they known how to remove it from their desktops. So here I come to their rescue to help them remove that very icon and claim their desktops to be free of ALL icons.

This tip involves fidgeting with the values of the system registry and for those of you who do not know any mistake in the values of the system registry make render your system unusable or make it stop working or crash. So unless you have a real obsession with cleanliness (which most of us rank it next to GODliness) do not try it unless you are thorough and have a strong heart.

Step 1: Getting there.

Go to Start>run and type regedit

Step 2: Making the changes.

In the window that opens ( named Registry Editor ) navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\
Desktop\NameSpace\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} and delete it.

Yes you heard me right. Right click on it and DELETE it.

This action should remove the Recycle Bin icon from your desktop
