How to increase disk performance of your computer
If you have a SATA drive, Windows Vista has a unique feature when enabled would increase performance of your computer. The feature is basically utilizes aggressive write caching, that is the data is written to a RAM first before it's written to the hard drive. Here is how to do it.
Step 1: To enable it, click on the "Start", right-click "Computer", go to "Properties".
Step 2: A window opens with System information. Now click on "Device Manager" on the extreme upper left.
Step 3: Locate "Disk drives" the second entry under "Computer". Click on the "+" sign, right-click the hard disk shown (mostly only one should show up) and now click "Properties".
Step 4: Click on the "Policies" tab, now select "Enable advanced performance".
Step 5: Hit "OK" and you have an enhanced PC at your disposal.
