Choosing the right computer hardware will assist you to do your work with ease. Computer hardware refers to the various peripheral devices that are attached to your computer externally. These devices include keyboard, monitor, disk drives, mouse and most importantly the CPU.
To make the computer work for your business you need to install the business software. While installing the software for your computer you must first know if your hardware is compatible for your software. The software will generally have specific hardware requirements to work properly. If you don't meet the hardware expectations your computer may not work.
When you have decided to purchase a computer there are two options. You can go for the model that has been designed by a computer manufacturing company. The computer hardware is all tested by the company and they will have specific configuration. You can then install software which can run under this configuration. On the other hand you can assemble computer hardware to make your own computer. The disadvantage is that it requires knowledge and time but the advantage is that you can choose the hardware that meets your specific requirements.

Though it is an old model, this model is highly robust. Optical mouse is the best option if you are looking for a mouse for your desktop. Generally your desktop will come with a mouse and check if it is an optical mouse. Laptops have inbuilt mouse and you can buy a wireless external mouse for ease of use.
The monitor size depends on the requirement of your eye. If you feel comfortable with a big screen go for a 21' monitor. The flat screen monitors occupy less space and will look trendy. The resolution of the computer monitor is what you want to look into. This resolution specifies the clarity of your monitor display.
The CPU constitutes the major part of the computer hardware. Your CPU determines your computer's processing ability and speed. If you are going to do word processing and simple web browsing you can use the old CPU models and they are inexpensive. The processing speed is specified by the frequency as GHz. The higher the value the faster is the CPU. Newer and faster CPUs are expensive and you can choose such CPU only if you need super duper processing.
The size of the RAM is also a major factor that influences the processing speed of the computer. Today more and more people are using 512MB RAM for their computer for faster processing. The disk drives can be chosen depending on your needs. Many external memory devices are available at much lower costs and take these external devices into consideration when you are looking out for disk drives.

I think people should go for a minimum of 2 GB of RAM memory. All the new OSes and games and other softwares related to simulation and spreadsheet can use the extra RAM to work more efficiently. Vista works well with 2 GB of RAM memory. Many people avoid spending on their motherboard which is the most important component of any system. One can always buy motherboards that support future technologies so that they need not worry about spending more while upgrading in future.
