LCD monitors and CRT monitors, both have different status that's why people like us find it difficult to choose either LCD monitors or CRT monitors. Both of them have there own advantages and disadvantages, which makes it difficult for us to choose any one of them. Nowadays by default most of the desktop computers with LCD monitors are sold. But as an expert, I recommend you that it is good to have a complete know how about both.

Let's start with liquid crystal displays (LCD):

  • The size and weight is the biggest advantage that liquid crystal display has, so people mostly go for larger screens when they find the light weight liquid crystal display screens. I personally feel that it is in the psyche of common person to have a product having huge volume and light weight.

  • User tends to get less eye fatigue, when he comes in front of the liquid crystal display screens. On the other hand due to constant light barrage and scan lines, heavy strain is caused on the heavy computer users by cathode day tubes (CTR).

  • Liquid crystal display monitors have constant display screen of pixels.

  • Liquid crystal display monitors produce less fatigue just because of its lower intensity.

  • Due to fixed or native resolution, LCD screens have no attraction in it.

  • Number of pixels is displayed by the LCD screens in its matrix.

  • The number of pixels is no more or less but exact.

  • Early LCD monitors, due to lower response times had video operating problem.

  • Still in modern era, a lot of changes have been done but still we are facing some problems of low response time.

So readers, I hope you will be some what satisfied or disappointed, however lets have a look on cathode ray tubes (CRT).

  • Due to color rending, CTR monitors have advantage over the LCD monitors.

  • Better contrast ratios as compare to LCD screens

  • CRT monitors have depth of color display as compare to LCD monitors.

  • But now LCD monitors have been added many strides to narrow the gap.

  • But the main problem with CRT monitors is that with the passage of time phosphorous in the tube breaks down which is the cause of degrading it.

  • But one of the important advantages to the CRT monitors is that it can easily scale to various resolutions.

  • By adjusting the electron beam in the tube, CRT screens can be adjusted to lower resolutions.

  • The picture quality and clarity of CRT screens remain intact.

  • The biggest draw back of CRT screen is its huge size and weight.

  • As compare to CRT monitor, LCD monitor of same size weights 80% lesser.

  • This difference also increased when you increase the screen size.

  • CTR monitor consumes more power as compare to LCD monitor.

  • CTR monitors generate a lot of heat as compare to LCD monitors

So readers, finally you have read all the points and I hope that you will choose the one which suits to you and your needs.
