Anyone Using an External Hard Drive?
I was just curious, as I have been thinking of adding one to my system as I keep seeing prices fall. Personally I have narrowed my choices down to 2..The Seagate 160 GIg or the Western Digital 250Gig.. So if anyone is using either of those 2..post away..OR if you have your own recommendation..Please post it here.
Thanks
Gary
calculate the price per GB for both and get the cheapest as both the brands are equally good. these are connected through usb interface, and are very portable!
It is depended on your usage. What purpose you need to buy the external hard drive. If you nee to staore more file on external drive, i suggest you take the Western Digital 250GB. You can store more that 160GB. Consider also the price.

Ok..both good answers..but thats just the common sense stuff. What I always look for..is someone who is putting a product through its paces day in and day out. I know all about cost per gig and all that crap..I want someone who is torturing one on a daily basis...and can still smile and say,,,Dude..this piece kicks ass!
well, if that's so!
i have been using seagate's 80Gig HD. with a zippsys casing.
and it heats up a lot when used to read and write stuff for a long time!
this results in slower speeds later on (when it's heated up).
i have loads of external drives, what i do is buy a new drive for my desktop and then take the old one out and put it into an external case (which costs less than buying the external drive) then i have a new drive in my computer, and an external drive!!!
