Article: Searching in excel is more difficult than in word

Unlike word excel is entirely a different thing. In this type of document we work with sheets at one time instead of pages. It is not difficult to find these sheets. These lie right at the bottom of Excel window in the form of tabs. By looking at its appearance, at a first glance you will feel that to search in excel files is more difficult than to search in word files.

Searching in word document is comparatively easy. If you want to search in word documents, there are two possible ways:

  • First of all reach the Edit menu and then click on find.

  • Through its shortcut counterpart is another possible way that is press the ctrl key together with F key and then your computer screen will show you a box provided with spaces in which you can type the word you want to search.

  • You can position your cursor if your word file has multiple pages, in this way you can easily start searching the required document from the first page to the last one.

  • By using a trick you can work in excel by using Ctrl +F, as documents have sheets instead of pages.

  • By pressing Ctrl+ F you can search on the current page where you are working.

  • You don’t have to add other sheets for search which you have to do in word file.

  • It may not be tedious to search for each sheet manually but if few sheets are available then you can manage every thing with ease.

Here are certain steps through which you can do every thing on excel, effectively:

  • Right click the sheet where you have the excel document.

  • After that click "select all the sheets"

  • In to the group mode, put your excel document.

  • The two signs in excel will show that you are in group mode.

  • After that you will see the word group written on the title bar.

  • Now you will see that the ctrl + f function is now supporting all the sheets effectively.

You can search through all the sheets in two ways:

  • Keep the find box open, after that hit the next button to find other words or the words you wish to search.

  • After that close the find box and by using f4 button to find the words of your choice.

After searching your favorite file you also have the knowledge of ungrouping you excel. In this way you will get all the sheets in one document.
