  • Before starting our discussion, the thing you have to keep in mind is that repairing a scratched DVD is an easy task.

  • Most of the DVD’s you find are already buffered with plastic.

  • This plastic buffer is used to protect the data beneath the layer.

  • Sometimes you will find deep scratches therefore it is very difficult optic to recognize the data.

  • If you want to repair the scratch DVD, try to make all the deep scratches, shallower.

  • After polishing the plastic, DVD player finds it easy to recognize the data.

What you need to repair a scratched DVD:

  • Your first step is to take baking soda toothpaste but not the gel.

  • Take a lint free cloth.

  • Apply small amount of tooth paste on wet DVD.

  • With the help of cloth, rub the crack gently.

  • Always rub the DVD in straight lines, as circular motions can cause more scratches.

  • Repeat the procedure 10-15 times and then move on to the next scratch.

  • Once you have completed the procedure, wash the disc with warm water and allow it to get air dry for several minutes. You can only use it, after it gets dried up. Now I think that you have become aware of repairing a scratched DVD.

  • If the scratch is already down to the foil layer, only in that case polishing will work for long time otherwise it would work for short-term.

  • But do not repeat this again and again because it slowly removes the plastic buffer.

  • If your DVD is repeatedly getting scratches or deep gouges then you should go for resurfacing the DVD entirely.
